Two weeks have passed since we reached the milestone that is killing Yogg-Saron and since then we've been pretty busy checking out the Hardmodes and Achievements that are available. This is the part where we really get to see the colour and diversity of Ulduar.

Over the weeks we've been slowly building up our Flame Leviathan tactics and have been regularly farming the encounter with two towers active. This week we took a look at three active towers and found it to be a smooth transition and a very fast kill. Next week we hope to complete the full Hardmode with four towers up.

Two days after Yogg's death, we took a look at Freya+1 for the 'Knock On Wood' achievement. This is also the first step to the full Hardmode. It took a few hours to conquer, but there was a steady feeling of progression and with a little bit of fine tuning we quite comfortably beat the encounter. Yey, our first 'harder' mode kill!

Late last Tuesday's raid we made a trip to the Assembly Of Iron. We usually leave these little (and not so little) dwarfs to one side to provide a some flexibility in our boss options, and on this occasion we decided to give the Middlemode version an hour of our time. Admittedly we hadn't really researched the encounter, and basically all we knew was that some Sparks appeared and would try to blow us up. However, that seemed to be all we needed to know as we beat the encounter on our 4th attempt and we got our first [item]Archivum Data Disc[/item].

On this weeks raid reset we accidentally killed XT's heart within the Hardmode timer (whoops!) and because of this we spent a little time taking a look at the mechanics of the hardmode fight and we weren't far off a kill. This coming Wednesday we expect to overcome the encounter on its hardmode setting and start enjoying the toys he has hidden away so far.

Despite our little adventures on these middlemodes our main concern has been Hodir Hardmode where we've seen our kill times drop to about 3m30s, so we are not far away from our goal. We've accomplished this with some very strange and sub-optimum raid setups and so we are hopeful that once we get the right balance online, Hodir will fall in under three minutes.

So all in all, despite the problems which Summer inevitably brings, the last couple of weeks have provided some good kills and some good progress into the Hardmodes of Ulduar and we are hoping the next couple of weeks will unveil the fruit of our labours with some more dead bosses and more epic loot. We are also looking to find some new friends to share these adventures with, mainly friends who can shoot Shadowbolts and Fireballs from their hands or make green tank bars go from small to big. If you know you can do this type of thing three or four evenings a week, maybe you can find a home here - check out the Recruitment for more information.

'Excuses don't kill bosses. And neither does standing in the fire, coming unprepared, forgetting last weeks tactics or watching TV.'
