Well well, its all finally been killed. This Sarth3D 10-Man has taken quite a few raid nights to complete. We've tried caster setups, melee setups, 2 healer setups, 2 healer and off healer setups and finally a three healer, caster setup.
All the setups have got quite close. Some nights we had gone away at the end wondering why things hadn't gone better. But tonight, on the 4th attempt everything went according to plan. Kill Tenebron, AOE the whelps, kill Shadron, sort out the portals, kill Vesp, get Sarth down to 15% have a spare tank accidentally taunt him to he is facing the raid, panic, some nifty footwork by Blightrose and thankfully a kill rather than a wipe. Perfect!
A lot of people have put work into this kill. Not just the 10 who had the luxury of being part of it - we have a very dedicated melee team waiting in the wings to re-enact this kill in the next reset. The kill would also not have been possible without Blightrose and Emille being present for almost every Sarth 3D raid night - their unwavering tanking really gave us a solid base from which to build.
I have to say, this was a very challenging fight. From a healer perspective there is a lot to do, and one wrong move or slow reaction will be paid for in wipes. I can't wait to try a 2 Healer setup again to really push us. One very pleasing point to make is that in all the hours we've been here, pretty much nobody has been taking more damage then is necessary - survival has generally been very good and much better than in our 25man learning.
Hopefully we can collect a few more of these nice Black Drakes before Ulduar comes out.
